Costa Rica Culinary Tours

Coffee, chocolate, tropical fruits, fresh fish and organic vegetables nurtured on volcano-enriched soils are part of the broad palette Costa Rican chefs and home cooks use to create a range of fabulous foods. Every traveler will get a taste. Some will want to delve further.

Our Costa Rica culinary themed tours will take you high into the Costa Rican hills to get first hand experience in the cultivation and production of some of the planet’s finest coffee. (Be sure to buy plenty to bring home with you).

In the tropical lowlands you will visit banana, pineapple and cacao plantations. Here, you can take a chocolate tour to see how cacao fruit are transformed into fine bars and bon bons.

In the cities, mountain villages and popular beach towns, we can arrange tastings and cooking classes with some of the country’s top chefs.

Visit local farmer’s markets or ferias. You will taste exotic fruits like pithaya and pejibye. And learn to distinguish between yuca, malanga and tiquizque. Hint: all are tubers.

Similarly, we can steer you to the perfect restaurant for a memorable meal to celebrate a special occasion. Choose a simple soda, or fine dining fusion spot. At either, you can toast with some local guaro, or finish the night with a coffee liqueur.

After that, if you like we can offer a taste of the Tico nightlife. You might opt for some salsa dancing lessons, or a local pub crawl.
