You arrive at Liberia's Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR). After clearing immigration and customs, and exiting the terminal, you will be met at the airport by a private van and driver fromHacienda Guachipelin for the ride to the lodge. The drive should take around 45 minutes.

Upon arrival, you will check in to Hacienda Guachipelin for 3 nights. Hacienda Guachipelin is a real working cattle ranch located on the flanks of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano, and very close to the entrance to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. It offers up a wide range of adventure opportunities, and has some wonderful natural hot springs nearby. Breakfast is included, as is entrance to their Rio Negro Hot Springs and Mud Baths.

Note: If you’re looking for a little more upscale experience, we can substitute Hacienda Guachipelin with either Rio Perdido or Origins Lodge.

There are several excellent hikes inside Rincon de la Vieja National Park. We especially recommend the hike to the mud pots and fumeroles around the Las Pailas section as a gentle easy hike. For more adventurous and athletic visitors, the Blue Lake/Cangreja Falls hike is essential. Hacienda Guachipelin provides regular complimentary transport to and from the National Park entrance.

Hacienda Guachipelin also offers a One-Day Adventure Pass, which includes a zip-line canopy tour, white water river tubing, horseback riding, and lunch. A waterfall rappel canyoning tour is also available for a $20 supplement. They also have a butterfly garden and serpentarium, as well as cow milking activities.

At the time of your choosing, a private van and driver will take you from Hacienda Guachipelin to your beach destination in Guanacaste. The drive should take between 3 and 4 hours. Your driver will stop as requested, or necessary, for food, bathroom or sightseeing breaks.

Upon arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Some of our most popular options, in rough budgetary order from most economical to most expensive are:

Depending upon, and coordinated with your departure time, a private van and driver will pick you up at your hotel for the transfer to Liberia’s Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR).

The ride should take between 40 and 90 minutes, depending upon your beach hotel location.
